Joey Chestnut…Bring It
New Feature: Fill ‘er Up Friday [Updated]
Six days a week I have a simple goal when it comes to food from a caloric intake perspective. That goal is:
1,700 calories
+
Calories burned from working out
Simple. For example, my run a day burns 1,000 calories. Therefore, I get my 1,700 (daily allowance) calories + the 1,000 (workout) for a total of 2,700 calories.
Friday is the only day that doesn’t ring true. Friday’s, I’ve adopted the Tim Ferriss approach to taking that one day a week to kill it. Eat whatever the heck you want. You don’t have to apologize to your wife (me), kids, dog or anyone.
Here’s my Friday so far:
Breakfast: Whole Wheat toast with PBJ and butter (425 calories)
Pre-Workout Sugar Spike: 33g of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (169) + 17 ozs G2 (40)
Workout: 995
Lunch: Five Guys Bacon Cheeseburger w/ Mayo (1,020) + Regular Fries (620)
Afternoon Snack: Culver’s Medium Vanilla Malt w/ Heath Bar & Caramel (1,043) + 17 ozs G2 (40)
Dinner: Pizza (pepperoni, canadian bacon, other) (~1,100) + 20 ozs Minute Maid Lemonade (250)
So far...4,707 calories total/3,712 net
Water: 80 ozs
By the way, I love food so much that I weighed 260 lbs at one point. Great if you’re a 7-footer, not so great if you’re 5 feet 10 inches. Also, I’ve inherited a family metabolism that regularly gets beaten by snails. Though I’m a little more flexible on non-Fridays for vacation and other special days, this setup over the last 2+ years has worked well for me. Whaddya think, do I have a chance in a hot dog eating contest again Joey Chestnut?
Cheers for the weekend!
